Does this mean that the septic tank needs to be pumped? We JUST bought this house and moved in a couple of days ago. I noticed at first that the Master shower drain was very slow so we used Drain-O and it seemed to help. I just walked into my bathroom and thought the kids had literally filled it with muddy water! I was MAD until I found out that NOONE did such a thing but rather it was coming up THRU the drain itself!!! Seems like both toilets also don't want to flush anything down now and they're on opposite sides of the house.

Thank you ALL for your quick answers! You are each greatly appreciated! I will have the tank pumped AND have the system inspected by a professional plumber..RotoRooter is who I'll call. **Yes, I had a complete inspection of the place done by an ASHI Certified Inspector who did reveal that the master shower drain was slow but felt that he'd run enough water through the lines during inspection without seeing a problem in the drain field and told me he thought Drain-O would do the trick. I'm hoping that it's just the tank in need of being pumped but will go ahead and have it all checked out just in case it's something larger than that and I need to go to the seller. We just closed on the 14th... Thank You again for all of your responses!!

Didn't you have the septic tank inspected and pumped before you bought it?! Definately sounds like its backed up. You'll need someone out there pronto. Bad thing to happen on a Friday afternoon!

This is very serious, not only does tank need pumped, but drainfield is probably bad also,,or it would keep up,,,better look into your rights,,and get seller to cough up

Sounds like you have roots blocking the drain. You may need roto rooter to clear the line, but try root killer first.

Exactamundo! They need to come out and suck the tank completely out. Afterwards, put a bottle of tank starter in to jumpstart the bacteria.
