Interesting.... I would suggest that he who hunts with his hands is limiting his search for truth to that which he can touch with his fingers. So many truths cannot be found by touch/the fingers. He who hunts with his heart or his soul touches truth.

It means "anyone can come up with an only somewhat true philosophical quandry. For example, you can hunt with your hands even if your fingers have been completely removed, just by bludgeoning things with the backs of your hands. But at first glance, the sentence He who hunts with his hands, hunts with his fingers seems absolute.

If you want the actual meaning, it'd be best to figure out where the quote came from and explore the social culture of that era/area in order to see what associates the terms hands, fingers, and hunt had.

He who hunts with his hands learns to survive on his own. He must hunt with his fingers, gaining a little bit of ground at a time but shall be better off as time goes by.

You can look at hunts in 2 ways... hunts as in searches for or kills.
Looking with your hands is being pushy, grabby, and wanting things your own way, you are hunting for something in life(looking for something) with the greedy part of you leading the way. Not with your head or heart. Therefore one that hunts with his hands and kills with his fingers. Another way of using the word hunt... is a term to find and kill something. So if you are looking for something, being very greedy, you will do little things, to get what you want. Sure you hold the gun with your whole hand but you pull the trigger with your finger.
So if you hunt for something in greed, you will do little things to get to what you want, no matter what it costs.

this is how i interpreted it.

I interpret it to mean that we are the fingers, God is the hand. We hunt ceaslessly for knowledge, for the answers to our eternal questions. The search had to start somewhere. To know must mean to get back to understanding how we are a part of God.

It means that it is very cruel to hunt. If you pull the trigger or use a bow and arrow, your hands are used as weapons.

The fingers are the able part of the hand, but also the most fragile.

Your fingers are a part of your hands. I've never heard of this before. Did you make this up?

We are dependent upon even the smallest, unnoticed parts of life that we take for granted and overlook.
