I'm going to a wedding and want to look appropriate. I'll be wearing a black suit with thin white and blue pinstipes that are actually a line of tiny dots when looking up close. I bought a yellow tie with black, light blue and darrk blue dots that are in line diagonally. I also bought a light blue shirt with thin white horizontal & vertical lines, 1 inch apart. The shirt has a white collar and french cuffs.

NO!!! Unless YOU feel comfortable and CONFIDENT enough to wear a clashy and busy outfit... I would suggest that you keep the suit (by the way, a pinstripe really is just dots with varying closeness of stitches...) but ditch the tie and shirt. Why not pair the suit with a solid dark to medium color tie and a shirt that is one shade darker than the tie. Some color combos to consider:

-Medium gray shirt with silvery gray tie
-Black shirt with burgundy tie
-Plum shirt with dark purple or indigo tie

Because the pinstripe pattern consumes the whole suit, you really can't use any prints for the shirt or tie without looking gaudy... Good Luck!!!

The patterned shirt I think will clash with the pinstripes. But what do I know, I wear a toga.

These days you can wear about anything as long as you can pull it off the right way.

your outfit is WAY too busy. its ok if you keep most of it simple, and then add an accent of craziness, but when everything is bright and loud, it just makes your outfit sloppy.
