It can be very difficult. It alspo requires a lot of processing power, disk space, and memory (not to mention a good video card)

It depends what type of editing you are doing. If you are just cuting and moving around bits of the video, it is simple (you can use quicktime pro). You can add in sounds, a title screen, and credits pretty easily as well. Other than that, it starts to get a little more difficult.

Well, if I know nothing about something, I think it'd be difficult to do that certain thing, don't you think? :P
Now, to learn, it isn't very hard but it does require a good computer and the right software. I use prosumer software, all the Adobe software and it works excellent for me.
I'd suggest playing with Windows Movie Maker first and seeing if you can do creative things with it. It's a pain to work with if you want to do a lot of tweaking.

I didn't think so. Its a lot like directoring your own movie once you have all the pieces recorded. Dragging and dropp[ing video, stills and audio into a timeline seems very intuitive to me. I've Pinnacle Studio s/w for a while and love it.
