1 (american football) rugby
2 (baseball) cricket
3 (ice hockey) hockey
4 (basketball) netball
5 (soccer) football
6 (golf) golf (scots invented this game so you can have it)

My main problem with your rant revolves around #4. This is taken directly from netball.org:

"In 1891 in Springfield, Massachusetts a 30-year-old Canadian immigrant to the USA, James Naismith, was ordered to invent an indoor game for high-spirited young men at the School for Christian Workers (later the YMCA).

....

Women's indoor baskeball began exactly two days later when female teachers to the gym were captivated by the game but it wasn't until 1895 that the current game of netball was well and truly shaped."

So netball was taken from basketball. A sport invented in America by a Canadian immigrant.

Add to that the facts that #5 and #6 are the same sports in each country, so to say that the English version is better doesn't make sense. Do Americans play those sports that originated in the Bristish Isles? Yes. But what country doesn't play sports from other countries?

Not to mention baseball did not come from cricket but rather from a different English game called Rounders.

So the only two American sports you were even correct on comparing to the English sports you listed were #1 and #3.

Why cant the English understand???? your sports are about as fun as trigonometry that's why we let the rest of the world have soccer an hour an a half wasted for a 0-0 tie can you say mind numbing plus we fought a war so we didn't have to listen to British non-sense

.....THE EDUCATION OF THE WORLD CONTINUES, ONE MORON AT A TIME.....We didn't take hockey, the NHL expanded into the U.S. on it's own. We invented basketball. Baseball came out of Rounders. The Scot's invented their brand of football and you Brit's renamed it SOCCER. We did however take 13 colonies from you, currently rule the world, and continue to cover for your under-acheiving sore-asses. By the way, why do you insist on butchering a perfectly good language?

traditionally, sports invented in a country are more popular in that country. Just like fish and chips is popular in England and tacos are popular in Mexico.
