I was in the same boat last year...here's what I've done...
Have a look at the realistic options...what are the schools near your home, what courses do they offer, what are your interests, what is affordable, how much time do you want to spend...etc. The thing is, at our age, it's not about what inspires you, or what you want to be when you grow up...it's about what's going to pay the bills with the best shifts and not take too long to do. Good luck!

Ok, first off I have to say to 'Oh Snap' that this lady did not post this question for you to pass judgement. You don't know her background or history as to why she didn't go to college ten years ago. She is looking for an answer to her situation now not for someone to slap her around.
Now, to get to the question at hand. Think about what you really enjoy. Yes money is one factor to consider in the job to look for, but face it, nobody wants to work a job that they hate. Think about your gifts and interests and then go from there. Do some research into where your natural gifts could take you. Most colleges have good counselors that can guide you and give you some possibilities.
I notice you had a question about being a nurse midwife posted and then removed for some reason. I actually had your question on my watch list to see what kind of responses you might get thinking they might help me as well. If nursing is something you are interested in you might be able to find a hospital that will actually help you pay for nursing classes while working for them. The demand for nurses is high. And face it, it isn't a job that they can outsource overseas which gives some job security to the field. No matter what the future brings, there will always be a need for people to care for people and there are hundreds of things you can do and branches you can follow in the medical field.
Contact a counselor at a local college or university where you live that has a medical program, and ask for help finding available grants and scholarships. From what I have been told, there are a lot of them out there. Perhaps you will luck into something. I'm about to do the same thing after talking to some people in the field. You might be able to become a CNA, then work toward becoming an RN or RNA. I've also been told that xray technology pays very well. I'm going to look into it myself as soon as I am finished with a temporary position I'm working right now.
There are a lot of technical schools out there that can give you certification for different things but be careful, if you decide to move on to a regular college or university, sometimes the credits will not transfer. If that is a possibility you might be better off to start at an accredited college and bypass the smaller technical ones. A lot of schools now offer on line courses which might work better for you to get started while the kids are still at home.
The most important thing is for you to find something that you can feel good about and that leaves you energy for your family when you get home. Good luck in whatever you choose to do.

Have you thought about a customer service job. Not telemarketing but one where people call you. There are alot of good jobs in the industry. I have worked at one for 6 years and absolutely love it. And depending on where you live the pay can be pretty decent and no training is required another than the ability to type and basic computer info.

You could get a job working as a cashier at any store.
Just let them know the times you are available, most I think will work around that for you.
