Yes. Sort of. A Helicopter goes roughly 110-120 mph (police and media). Depending on the car you can go say 150mph (thats what I got my stock mustang up to) If the road is straight enough and long enough you can outrun a helicopter.

Unless you're in a race car, then no. Even then it's doubtful because, in a car, you are confined to the road. The helicopter can cut corners and head you off. Besides, the car will probably run out of gas long before the helicopter does anyhow...so either way you're screwed.

Which car and which helicopter? Helicopters have a natural speed limit, about 250 mph. They cannot fly faster than that because the air flow around the rotor becomes too unstable. Many helicopters, especially cargo ones, are much slower than that.

The average helicopter can outrun the average car, but I am sure there are exceptions on both sides.

The general limiting factor for a helicopter is that the leading edge of the main rotor should not exceed the speed of sound when you combine both the rotational speed and the forward speed of the aircraft.

No, cars don't likely have the ability to keep up with a helicopter. Most helicopters can go about 180 mph, well it all depends on the car and chopper.

For pure speed, generally the chopper will win, unless you're talking about an extremely fast car.

Manueverability, the chopper will generally win - becasue there is less traffic in the air, and it is not restricted by roads.

However, the one advantage a car might have is in a downtown area where there are lots of tall buildings (or an area with tunnels). You might be able to 'ditch' 'em from using the natural obstacles.

And as a rule... most of the time, Dad's are right.

depends on the helicopter.

most cars these days are either drag limited or electronically governed at 150mph. Few can go faster without modifications. The ford gt could outrun a whirly given enough straight road with no trucks crossing. Police helicopters can photo your licence plate and you cant outrun the radio. Good luck though

Are you thinking of the "Gone in 60 seconds" movie?
Some cars do have top speed higher then some helicopters.

Sikorsky Aircraft has plans to build a helicopter that can go 288 mph. The fastest (street legal) car (the McLaren F1) can go 240.1 mph. In the most extreme case, with the fastest car and fastest helicopter, no.

No, And don't think of tring too. The Advantage the helicopter has ; that it has no traffic signs at all. To where a car has to stop, yeild and twist and turn as well as Flip over as a result of tring. Helicopter's can see way ahead of you as too where you have no clue whats up ahead. So Please Drive with caution & don't try to experiment at the cost of a inoscent Life. You don't want to live with that kind of guilt. Ok .Later
