why do people lie to each other?

There are as many reasons for lies as there are people telling them. Some lies are to protect peoples feelings, some are to make the person telling it look better, some are to stay out of trouble, some are told by people who just can't help but lie about everything. The list goes on and on. And don't even try to say that you never lie, EVERYBODY does, even if its a matter of your best friend asking if her new hair cut is nice or not, you hate it, but you tell her its ok anyway so you don't hurt her feelings, there is no reason to hurt her feelings but its a lie nevertheless. If everyone in society was brutally honest all the time we would have even more depressed and suicidal people than we already do and very little would ever get accomplished.....why do you think they call it 'brutally' honest? because honesty is not always the kind way to go and kindness is more highly valued.

It is not that humans want to lie and sometimes it may not be done in delibertly but its because we are imperfect and the father of the lie is the DEVIL him self SATAN and that sometimes if your male or female we all do it right through our lives. BUt sometimes we may have to lie for example if you have if your parents ask you what have you done for our anniversary and you want to keep it a secret so that they don't find out what you have done for them thats ok because thats a good lie. But there are bad lies where people have a past and they want to keep it secret or people just want to big name themselves and make them feel more sure about themselves.

Lets face it: No-one is honest 100% of the time in what they say or do!! If they were, then this would be the business site known to man with 101 different questions of?????? Use your imagination!!

People lie for a multitude of reasons:

To make themselves out to be someone/something they are not.
To make themselves/their lives, sound more interesting.
To make themselves sound more appealing/desirable to the opposite sex (especially when online).
To gain a promotion or status.
To hide the truth.
To hide feelings or emotions.
To save peoples feelings.
To save getting into trouble & avoid punishment.
To avoid conflict.

Look at the list above: Now tell me you have not lied in at least one of these instances!! If you can or do... I will call you a lier!!

'Does my bum look big in this'? (cough) 'No Dear, you look great'!!

'Are you over 18'? (cough) 'Yes I am.. my date of birth is .....'!!

'You fancy him/her, don't you'? (cough) 'No I Don't'!!

'How old are you'? (cough) 'I'm 21'!!

'Are you sure you can do that'? (cough) 'Yes'!!

'Have you been smoking'? (cough, cough) 'No'!!

While there are people on earth: there will also be lie's!! White ones, grey ones, big black beasty ones... lies are with us to stay: as no-one can afford to be Honest 100% of the time... the costs would be to great!!!

a lie is based on a truth that has been ripped apart by time itself. deception is the true spirit of all living entities. if one was to commit adultry with a woman, the natural thing to do would be to lie. it is in the core of every living entity.
the strands of time have warped what little truth was left in the universe.

Because the truth is not good enough. They build themselves up with lies to try to impress to person they are with. They feel that their life has no meaning, no purpose. So they tell lies to other people to give themselves meaning and purpose. As human beings we have a need for our lives to mean something to have a purpose.
