Well, any grain will work for mixing in medicines, because horses will eat pretty much any grain that tastes good. But, if you need a grain that you are going to use for a while, i would reccomend a low protein, High fiber diet. My horse is on Ultium feed, which is made by Purina, and i find its a terrific grain. LMF showtime A is a great grain also. It keeps them level headed and keeps their weight up. You could mix in Corn oil if you want, but she will probably eat it either way. The oil will make her coat shiny though.

I would go to the grain store and ask them. You need to know the age, weight, and reason for using grain. There are so many grains out there it kinda has to go with your horses needs. If you are giving medicine and you need to mask the flavor you may want to use apples and carrots with it and corn oil is good but you need to watch the amount.. Sometimes a horse will eat all the grain without touching the medicine. My sisters horse will do it every time . All you have left is medicine in the grain pan. She eats right around it. So good luck and if you cant figure it out call your vet .

Here is a trick that always worked for me.
Get a coffee grinder to crush the pills up really fine. Pour some molasses into a baggie. Not a lot, just fill up a corner of the bag. Add the powdered meds. Squish to mix. Tear the corner off of the baggie & squeeze onto the feed. Mix a little & watch her eat it all.

I think theshadow has a great idea. Just remember to change her diet slowly so she doesn't get an upset stomach. I had to give my horse medication, so I just mixed it in with her chaff and a tiny bit of water. I didn't have to add any extra grain

i really like omolene 100. well, my horse does. sweet feeds are nice when you have meds or supplements, because they usually have a somewhat sticky consistency and make it more difficult for the horse to pick bits out. any good grain or pelletts mixed with molasses would work, too.
