Half of the country does, the other 25% doesn't care and the other 25% doesn't know where the rest of the world is.

Ignorant and safe.

Oh well, can't teach unless they start to want.

They'll want when another 9/11 comes.

Edit: It's like drugs. You can't make a drug dealer quit, he has to want to quit.

They only went into Iraq for the oil. Afghanistan to get revenge on the buggers who got them. Vietnam because they can't stand political views that aren't communist. WWII because Japan attacked them and dragged them into it, even when the abstained for the first three years. WWI because an American cruise ship was sunk.

They refused to sign the Kyoto protocol, despite their being the biggest users of oil per person in the world, because it might have dented their profits, sod the rest of the planet.

So, at least in the case of their government, yes.

They do, unfortunately, there is good old network news to comfort them that things are al hunky dory here and we are fighting for freedom and justice. If they were exposed to enough truth on the important issues they would revolt, so we get tons of sidestories. Little unimportant snippets and reporters that are led around by special army platoons to places where they are in no real danger. George Orwell is rolling over in his grave as we speak.

yes we care but and most people do, the thing is most people are not knowingly in a postion to do anything about whats going on in other parts of the world. like in mexico or in africa, what can i do to help? i know both places have people who are hungry and we have that here but what can i do, im trying to feed myself. now for the people that know about problems outside the us and know about the probs here and can do something some do and some dont but i cant speak for them

Why? What is your country doing for others? The US is one of the main governments involved in aiding countries in need.

I think that the U.S. cares alot about what goes on around the world, and sometimes that leads to its criticism, because other countries think the U.S. should mind its own affairs.

I guess you haven't read any of these questions. How many questions are there about the conflict in the middle east? Open your eyes and ears you may learn something.
