Because the American standards are a lot lower now than what they originally were. Now the public, talent agents, and marketing people could care less about talent. They want to make money. So if there is a model, or even a musician that they feel they can sell and market, they will. If they don't have talent, who cares, at least they can make money. No one ever said these models were good at acting, but they get job offers because people will go see the movies or watch the shows. TV and movies these days really make me want to vomit with the low standards.

It's not an easy transition. Many models and actors have an Acting Coach on set. The acting coach helps them work on scenes, or whatever they need, to get the finished product. Most of them are BEAUTIFUL, but, one-dimensional performers, and the only way they can complete a scene, and finish the movie, is with their acting coach! They are "spoon fed," everything, they are not acting! They don't know 'how" to act!

I once overheard an assistant, to one of the many celebrity acting coaches, say that their client, "a very, very, famous actress," say XYZ actress, is having a crisis, and needs you ON SET RIGHT NOW! Poor thing, maybe she had to be taught how to cry.
