You drank a little alcohol, ate sushi, drank coffee and took aspirin the first month you were pregnant? Of course I stopped doing these kind of things after I found out, but I didn't know I was pregnant until later! I'm a little worried that I may have hurt my baby. Am I being paranoid?

NO you are not being paranoid. There is always reason to be worried especially in the first 3 months. Although the risks are low but it is possible for something to go wrong since you did these things. The best thing I can tell you is to tell your Dr up front and ask them for all the tests avaliable to make sure the baby is "normal". My best friend drank alot during her pregnancy and she knew she was pregnant. Her son has minor health issues but I am sure he has some mental things going on that are not detected. The good thing is you STOPPED when you found out so u should be proud of yourself...you are off to a great start on being a good mom...congrats

Yes, you are being paranoid. Don't worry about all the little things you may have done in the past to hurt your baby.
There are going to be many other problems that you will encounter over the next years that will tesat your morals, virtue and patience.
A few aspirin and a glass or two of wine will make little difference if you bring your child up to love and respect people, if you show love and empathy.
If you guide your unborn child through as many experiences you can afford.

The fact that you worry means you will be a good mom.

Enjoy this precious time with one who will give unconditional love.

Yeah, you're being paranoid. :) I got rip-roaring drunk two weeks after I conceived my first son (didn't know I was pregnant yet) and he's fine. If the sushi you ate was from a reputable place you normally go to and you know the place is clean and the food is safe, I wouldn't worry about that. You're allowed one cup of coffee per day during pregnancy, as long as you follow it with extra water. As for the aspirin...don't know. I don't think you're supposed to take it while pregnant. This would be a good ?? for your OB.

I was in the same boat. Before I found out that I was pregnant I had take asiprin like three days in a row. I didn't know I was pregnant until 2 weeks later. I was worried also but I never mentioned it to my doctor, BUT a lot of women that don't want they children take asiprin and coke to lose it and it never work so apparently it really doesn't affect the baby, but if you still want to be sure take an AFP test. Drinking coffee and eating sushi and I really don't know about that but probably want harm the baby.

It's just the guilt of being a parent, get use to it. While all these things are bad for a baby during pregnancy , most women don't know at the moment of conception and many do much worse before finding out and everything is fine. Don't stress out about it.

Yes you just paranoid. When I got pregnant I took Midol for cramps not knowing I was pregnant and my daughter turned out fine. Babies are extremely strong survivors at that time, and when babies dont make they weren't destined to be here. Dont worry your baby will be healthy.

I would hazard the guess that your worry is more detrimental to your baby than what you drank and ate. Congratulations, by the way!

Odds are you didn't hurt your baby. If you are concerned, you can ask your obstetrician to examine and see if your baby is developing on schedule. I already know you are going to be a great mom...

It isn't healthy, but I did the same too, because I didn't know I was p[regnant, and my daughter is just fine.
