No it's not fair. It throws them off balance. I went to Istanbul and visited various mosques and churches. Saint Sophia, the great cathedral which was turned into a mosque and then turned into a museum is an example. Churches (at least Orthodox and Catholic churches) have a focus at the altar, with the idea of drawing the mind toward God. Muslims are supposed to face toward Mecca to pray. Well the altar at Saint Sophia did not happen to be pointed toward Mecca, so when they made it into a mosque they had to do some interior decorating to draw the eye away from the altar and toward Mecca. Also they hung a lot of lamps from the ceiling so they are low overhead, thus also diffusing the directional focus. So the "museum" is kind of confused. At leas you don't have to wash your feet before entering Saint Sophia

I'm sorry not really sure, which other churches and temples you're talking about except Hagia Sofia and thats because the ottoman empire took over Istanbul from the Byzantines a long time ago, and I'm not sure if that can even be subjected to the debate of fairness

Hagia Sophia has a prosperous heritage. It turned right into a church, then a mosque, and is between the properly ideal last examples of Byzantine structure. It changed into possibly switched over to a museum, so as that it might want to be loved by using many as a historic monument.

You are exaggerating and biased against the Arabs and Muslims. Seems that the western media is excellent at brainwashing!
