Nope...as a matter of fact, most people that wear glasses or contacts didn't realize they needed them before an eye exam.
As you get older, your eyes may get worse-that's natural. But they may also get better. You're human. After 44 years, my eyes have finally stabilized.
As someone else said, not wearing glasses or contacts will cause strain on your eyes, therefore weakening the muscles around the eyes and cause worse vision.

Glasses and Contacts
If you need glasses or contact lenses, you can follow a few tips for the best results. When you pick out glasses, remember as a general rule that smaller frames will probably suit you better. The larger the frame, the more distortion you'll have, and you may not be able to see as well.
If you get contact lenses, follow your doctor's orders exactly when it comes to cleaning them, how many hours you can safely wear them, and when you should replace them. If you don't, you could develop serious infections or ulcers in your eye that are painful, difficult to treat, and may need months of medication or even surgery.
Eyes and vision are something no one wants to be without. To keep them working for you for many years to come, protect them now and take the best care of them that you can.

I don't know about making it worse, but I do think that your eyes become dependent upon glasses (or contacts), especially if you wear them in situations for which you don't need them. I'm slightly near-sighted (which means I can't see far away) and really only need vision correction occasionally - for driving and going to the movies (or sporting events...), basically - and I refuse to wear contacts for just that reason.

My eye doctor told me, your eyes become more dependent on glasses when you wear them more. I only use glasses for driving, don't wear them during the day. If I have trouble seeing something like small print in a book or on a bottle, I use small magnifying glasses for that, you can buy them in any drugstore, they don't cost too much. Some even have kool colorful frames. They usually come in small metal cases, like red, or gold cases.
