Yes indeed.
European humor is sometimes missed by Americans because it is often more subtle. A German or a Brit might make a very humorous remark but not bring attention to it. They just carry on with their conversation as though no pun or joke was made.
By contrast, American humor is more frequently marked with ostensible laughter, facial or vocal emphasis. Sometimes this can seem too contrived, or superficial to a European.
Even so, there are people in all cultures with varying amounts of humor. Perhaps the Germans you were thinking of when you asked that question are particularly humorless individuals.

Yes, Martin Luthor was quite a humorist. Don't think just because somebody is German and religious that he can't be funny.

they are just like the rest of the world, some have a sense of humor and some don't, humans are the same all over the world, we just speak different languages, have our own religions & have our own cultures and lifestyles.

After watching the David Hasselhoff songs he sings over there I would have to say no because they take him seriously and I just can't stop laughing.

Not really... I live in Germany. They dont talk about sex. I think, germans have no penis.
