Because they are knubskulls. Apart from gaining 3 point on their licence & up to £1000.00 fine, they could actually kill or maim some poor soul. They are concentrating more on their telephone call than their driving. I sometimes wish I was a copper, because I'd book the idiots. They are just arrogant, selfish people!

I suspect this may be one of those 'one rule fo you, one rule for me' issues. I must confess I will answer my phone and give a brief reply (assuring myself that I am in full conrol of the car) but I think nothing of signalling to other 'phone drivers' to stop being so reckless.

By the way, the very first day that I ever owned a mobile phone I was pulled over by the police and fined!!

I've got a Bluetooth hands-free kit in my car... so as soon as I sit down in the driver's seat, it connects without even needing to plug in any wires! And when I make or receive a call, the radio cuts out and the call is heard through the car speakers. Great gadget, everyone should have one in their car... or else don't bother using a phone while driving.

They are totally addicted to mobile phones and can't bear to switch them off , and just can't be bothered to use a hands free kit. Until penalty points are dished out to them they will continue to do this dangerous thing because fines alone will not be a deterrent.

In today's "instantaneous" society - emails, instant messenger, up to the minute news, speed-dating, microwave meals, internet shopping, spray on tan - nobody wnats to wait for anything and we all think nothing can wait. We've gone back to our infancy when everythiing has to be instant gratification. What better way to satisfy this than NEVER being out of touch - even if its' some moron trying to sell you double glazing as you motor down the M6 at 70mph (+)?

It absolutely disgusts me. They are the cause of so many accidents. It only costs 200 euro to fit a fully installed carkit into a car, yet every one you see on a car on the phone are driving expensive cars, or trucks etc
