Too true. I've written my congress people and the news media stating that I feel like I'm living in Feudal Europe instead of America. Everything I earn is going to the landlord, the energy companies, the insurance companies or taxes. What happened to the "American Dream"? Aren't American workers entitled to see some personal profit for years of working?
Presently there is a triple assault on the American standard of living. The exportation of jobs, illegal immigration and triple digit inflation in housing, and energy. I believe "Free Trade" and deregulation of energy are both failed policies and should be turned around. That is the one area which both Democrats and Republicans in the work force agree on. I suggest everyone write your congressional representatives and the news media and don't let up on the pressure on this.
Even you rich folks. Have you seen the stock market in the last few weeks? If the working classes don't have money to spend at Walmart or Target, guess what? Eventually it is going to trickle up the ladder and bite you as well. I have been trying to get the news and politicians to wake up for almost 10 years now. But they never could see it as long as the stock market looked like it was doing well and the politicians kept saying the economy is strong. Well. guess what? The people's credit has finally maxed out and that is what has kept the economy going.
Thanks for the great question and giving me a chance to state my answer on one of my main aggravations.

No , I have worked hard all my life. When I graduated high school I had little more than the clothes I owned. I got a job , worked hard , bit my tongue ,didn't *****, did more than my share , worked 60 to 70 hrs a week. I made sure I was a team player . If I needed to do the dirty work to get the job done , then that's what I did. Now I am 42yrs old , I have my own business, 8 employees, and extra money. I still work harder than any of my guys , but I didn't get here by saying " that's not my job,you do it" or "I don't get paid enough to do that"

Yes, I work every day. I am usually very busy at work. When I come home I am exhausted. And the killing part is, I have no money to show for it. I pay my bills, buy a few groceries, and it's gone. I often wonder when is it going to get better.

Of Course!
The Boss don't wanna do anything
But sit on there BUT and drink coffee
and talk on the Phone all day!
so YOU do it...
If anything goes wrong YOU DID IT-
Supervisers are the same!!
Im Not saying every boss is NO GOOD..
But most workers know MORE then the Boss

I eat when I want to (I work for a delicious food company)
I see nice looking men all day.
I make a lot of money.
I'm debt free!
It took a while to get to this point, but it's well worth it.

Working like a fool at just-above-poverty-level is pretty much slavery. True we're not tied to chains and whipped, but this rat race is chocking us all. This crazy system will blow up in our face one of these days.

I dont know about the word "slave" since we are all paid for our work and slaves were certainly not!! However, I do feel underpaid, underappreciated and overqualified for the work I do...
