Get her a Broom

My grandparents of ages 57 & 64 took a trip to Hawii this past year & it just goes to show that old age doesn't always have limits. A good gift would be to treat her like she was 20 again. Take her somewhere exciting with a few close relatives & bring back pictures & souveneirs for everyone. It doesn't neccessarily have to be Hawii. You could take her to the nearest vacation resort and treat her to the spa & the best dining they provide. If she's the lively party type like my great-aunt, try a trip to Los Vegas. You don't have to take her on her birthday date either; throw her a great party & pitch the surprise trip to her (planned for the next week or month). It's always a good idea to ask her closest friend for help.

I like the photo album idea. An alternative approach would be to find some great pictures of you and/or family members and buy some really cute frames. If you are lucky, you might even run across the photo negatives and could have something blown up and framed.

Why not treat your mom to a day of pampering. Set up appointments for her hair, nails and massage, etc. Someplaces have a spa day package which includes luncheon. If you can afford to spend the day with her treating yourself too she may even like it better. My daughter and I have done this several times and it is a great way to make someone feel special!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUR MUM!!!

Bah someone already used the dildo idea, how bout a male stripper?

Or even better use the hot air balloon idea above, push her over the edge, and collect on the life insurance.

funny you should ask...i will be turning 50 this year as well
50, to me, is an important milestone
when my older sisters turned 50, i made them a "this is your life" booklet...you simply find pictures of them and put them into a book, write a little something sentimental and there you go...voila! one gift taken care of...MY book for each of them was done in my own style of WEIRD HUMOR! i found pictures in enquirers, star magazines, ripley books...cut the face out, glued THEIR face to it and made the writing of something sentimental even more warped...i can be VERY creative when i want to be...and it helped to 'lighten' the fact that they truly ARE over the hill now!
50 is usually thought of as the "over the hill" age...
you know your mother well enough to know that she doesn't have hobbies nor does she wear jewelry...you should know what she would like to have...sit back and watch her, see what would make her life simpler, more entertaining, more fulfilled...surely you have heard her say something that she would love to have...you don't have to spend a fortune...
if she is the kind of mother i think she is, it won't matter...she'll love it anyway...give her a thank you card...just saying thank you that she gave birth to you and raised you to be attentive enough to know you want to give her something she will cherish...that is all i really want from my children (and anyone who truly loves me for being me!)

Get her a pretty card. Take her out, just the two of you. Go somewhere she likes to go. Make it your special present to her. Don't forget the cake. Also a pretty little stuffed toy that says, I love you Mom. Moms like them to you know.
