Unfortunately, yes...
For a couple of reasons...

(1) J.K. Rowlings has said that once a wizard is dead, they're dead. SHe made that point quite emphatically.

(2) My theory is that Snape killed Dumbledore AT Dumbledore's request. In the 6th book... Harry and Dumbledore go out in the small boat to the middle of the lake to find the Horcrux...

The Horcrux was located in a box inside a small bowl of water, on an isle in the middle of the lake... and the only way to get to the box was to drink the water... which Dumbledore did.

When he did (at great pain to himself) they discovered that the box was empty.

... and here's where my theory kicks in... the Horcrux wasn't in the box at all... but in the water... and Dumbledore ingested it... effectively putting Voldemort's sprirt inside himself.

Now... having the Spirit inside him, the only way to destroy it would be to destroy the host... which would be himself... and he pleaded to Snape to do it.

Reread the passage where Snape kills him and see if he begs for his life... or just plain begs... Snape KNEW what was going on... and, took Dumbledore's life. Snape was incredibly distraught afterwards... and ran off with the other Death Eaters...

Dumbledore's death served two purposes... killing part of Voldemort... and removing all doubt from the Death Eaters that Snape is on THEIR side... which, in fact, he is not.

You have to put faith in Dumbledore's opinion of Snape. He's always trusted him... even though his past was tarnished... and Dumbledore has NEVER been wrong in this series... I don't see why Rowlings would make him wrong now.

That's my theory... take it for what it's worth... but if you re-read that chapter... you'll see it fits VERY well.

No way, it's a trap set to catch 'you know who'. I think he killed himself on purpose because the only way to make a Horcrux is to kill someone. He would never kill anyone so he killed himself by drinking the poison and timed it with Snape to make it look like Snape killed him. That way 'he who must not be named' will be more brazen, and show himself more now that he thinks Dumbledore is dead and will trust Snape at the same time (who is a spy for The Order, on the side of good even though he's an a$$). The locket that Harry had in his palm is Dumbledores Horcrux. Okay, that's the way I would like to see the book go and would write it that way myself.

KOOL question... I'm a freak for Harry Potter.

Yes... (kind of) - but it's gotta be a sham of sorts to put Snape on an inside track with Lord V... and to allow Dumbledore a chance to directly help out Harry. I think he becomes a magical spirit of some kind... able to be Johnny on the spot whenever he's called upon, sort of like his Phoenix is to him.

But I have a question for you... have you figured out who RAB is? ...and where the real locket is? I think I have them both nailed.

Yes, I believe he is really dead. The books are dark and have always been about unhappy events. I am not sure that even Harry will live.

Yeah, he has to be. Only one person has ever survived that curse and we all know the reasons why. So, yes, it makes me very sad but he has to be. Other wise Harry and the prophecy wouldn't be all that special now, would it? =)
