I personally think the work "hate" is overused in our society.

i could not agreee with you any more! i think hate is way too much of a powerful word and people need to start using the term "dislike" because it ahs a lot less meaning...Hate measn you truly despise sumthing adn wish to never see or hear it again!

I agree - hate is a bit overused. But I feel that it goes beyond something that you "can't stand".
Here's a perspective: I saw this in the movie Karma Sutra. The young queen was abused by her husband for years (mentally, emotionally - raped her on their wedding night, yet treated the concubines better...you get the idea) Anyhoo....
When she finally shuts him down, leaving him, he says to her "So, you hate me now?" She turns to him and says "No, I do not love you enough to hate you."

You know your hate is real when you actually feel a physical response when seeing, talking about or even thinking about the object of your hate. Its a bad thing to be carrying around with you and unless you deal with it positively, it will likely result in psychological or even physical symptoms.

When I hate someone that means I could care less if they died, fell off of the face of this earth, or got lost forever!... And yes I do hate quite a few people!

For me it means imagining killing them in graphic gory detail at least twice a day, and knowing that I would if I could get away with it.
But I dont live in the US, so I doubt i'm a part of your society.

It is over used but to hate is to dislike everything about a persons existence.. their wlak their hair the smell of their breath their voice just everything!! lol

i think to hate some1 is to obsess over them, me i don't hate anybody, i just dislike certain people more than others & when the oppertune moment presents itself, all that wrestling & ju jitsu really helps exemplify that dislike with a concussion & broken arm

Hmm. To hate someone is to cut them off from your caring and kindness, to harden your heart towards them. To allow no opening for them to come close to you.

to hate someone means that you're focused on something that will only destroy your own life and the other person can happily ignore. Its self-destruction.

Yeah sometimes we catch ourselves being too cruel but you must remeber,instead of hate you should say dislike.Hate is such a cruel word.
