I have not personally but have some resources that may help you further.

The best routes to take are to research the process of starting a business as well as the industry you're interested in.

I recommend checking out the SBA, Entrepreneur, The Start Up Journal & Nolo. All 4 are great informational resources for the new/small business owner. I posted links for you in the source box.

Associations may be a good avenue to explore as well. These organizations will address many of the thoughts, questions and concerns you'll inevitably have as well as many you haven't anticipated yet. See the source box for some relevant links.

Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can about the industry. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

* FabJob Guide to Become a Bookstore Owner (FabJob Guides) by Grace Jasmine
* How To Start & Manage A Bookstore Business: A Practical Way To Start Your Own Business
by Jerre G. Lewis, Leslie D. Renn
* Retail Business Kit for Dummies by Rick Segel
* Retail Success! by George Whalin

There are plenty of free informational resources out there. Check the source box for links to articles.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

recently a really sweet lady opened a used book store in my area. She also sales baked goods in her store and that is where her business is coming from. i hear as far as the books go she is not making very much money. the problem is there are lots off ppl out there who want to sell old books for the cash but fewer who want to buy them. 2 out of three ppl who walk in just want to sell the books to them not buy them. Her largest profit is coming from homemade candles and a plate of brownies she puts on a table near the register.Id suggest a 1-up serve good coffee too.
