They are correct. I recomend using a HIGH QUALITY CD-R, like Sony,Fuji, etc. You'll wind up getting what you pay for, and sometimes the "no name" brands won't read correctly!
Good Luck!

Any CD, the only difference is that rewriteble CD-RW is the one u can burn it over and over, and the unrewritable CD ROM is the one u just can burn once, but any of them is great for music, photos, videos or anything u like

CD-RW= you can erase the cd's content & re-record over them, CD-R=you can't. But I'm waiting for some master cd that will keep playing after 4 yrs. Some of my old burned cds play like crap or not at all..

A CD-R is used to store information one time and then you can't change your mind and use it for something else. A CD-RW can be used many times. If you want to store precious memories I would imagine a good quality CD-R that has a reputation for longevity would suit your needs.

For basic storage, get yourself a high quality CD-R. Doesn't need to be CD-RW unless you are planning to add to the CD, or replacing/renaming/changing pictures already on the CD.

Just use a CD-R, this way you can write to it alot faster but once you burn it, you cannot erase it and re-use it. CD-RW (CD Rewritable) is slower in burning but you can write and re-write as many times as you wish.
Good Luck!

get a DVD+/-RW drive, those are nowadays not more expensive than a simple CD burner. the advantage is you can read and burn all known media like CD-R, CD-RW, DVD+/-R, DVD+/-RW and even DVD dual layer DVD+/-R DL. one reliable CD & DVD burner is the NEC ND-3550A for just $30.

in laymans term for the media is valid
+/-R: writeable only once
+/-RW: writeable many times (it's said up to 1000 times but i doubt this, assume it's something between 50 and 100).

In my opinion, CD-RW's are the best becuase you can store, copy, modify, move, delete etc. With CD-R's, once you've burned, you're done. Go with CD-RW's, trust me.

DVD-r: they are good for burning DVDs
CD-r: they are good for burning Cd's
rewritable: you can delete previous songs and burn new ones
unrewritable: you can download songs and cant change them
really easy. just stick to basic DVD-r and CD-r!
r stands for ROM so they are just CD Roms and DVD Roms!
i would use DVD Roms if you want to make a DVD of memories. but if you just want to store photos so they don't clog computer memory, i would use a floppy disc. they can be found anywhere and are really cheap!
