There are many answers for this:

1. There are physical considerations - a girls body is not fully developed until 21 so getting pregnant before that could be a health risk for both mother and baby.

2. Some people shouldn't have a baby because they are not emotionally mature, no mater what age they are.

3. Having a baby is not like getting a puppy that if things don't work out you can take it to the shelter and someone else will take care of it. Having a baby is a minimum 18 year commitment for better or worse; it's a bigger commitment than even getting married.

Your old enough till you realise the exact implications of what it means to have a baby - and something which when we are young we dont often have - empathy.

Its difficult to work out exactly when this point is, but if you are asking such a question, i would imagine maybe your too young (assuming your asking for yourself that is).

If you are unsure about the answer - your not ready.

Younger than 18. I know lots of girls who are under 18 and have two or three kids. All I see with them is a baby taking care of a baby. I am a counselor for teen girls in my neighborhood and many girls come to me with the same problem, "I think I'm pregnant." My question is why the hell do parents let their child have boyfriends and go out late at night.

If you haven't finished your education, and aren't earning a good income to support a family, then you're too young.

If you're any younger than 17, then your pregnancy is considered "high risk." This is because your body is still trying to grow itself, and it'll have a heck of a time trying to grow another body too.

No one should have a child that isn't married, financially solvent and can provide food clothing and shelter and higher education for a kid for the next twenty-one years.
