When Hollywood, in particular Mel Gibson, make historical, factual films. Why do they manipulate the truth against the Brits? Or neglect to mention the real truth. For example: "We Were Soldiers"

Even though Hollywood movies are distributed world-wide they are primarily made for an American audience first and foremost, I'm sure that has something to do with it. Brevity of story plot is probably part of the reason too, (e.g minor characters from a book, being combined into one). Probably some historical ignorance comes into play as well. Throw in the percieved need to have a cowboy ride off into the sunset, and there you go. Mel Gibson I can't explain.

Unfortunately America doesn't see us as a money making film industry. That's why we only get to make Romantic comedies or Monty Python. There is the occasional film like Harry Potter or Billy Elliott. But can you see Spiderman swinging through the streets of Brighton or Superman flying through Newcastle. I don't think it would work.
It is a shame that they do claim to have done historical things that were actually achieved by us.

Whichever country makes the film seems to influence which country is seen to be the best/worst in an adverse situation.

I always wondered if continental/world films might be seen to be against the Americans.
