Happy. Life is too short to be miserable, and I was married to a man who is gay, so I know. He lied to me and he pursued the relationship, but we were both miserable. He knew why: I didn;t until I began finding "evidence".
If your religious beliefs are against homosexuality, then it may be better to be alone - just have friends - but ultimately, you should not be miserable. It's not fair to the other partner to live a lie, either.

F*** social convention, if a same gender relationship makes you happy go for it! Being gay or lesbian is pretty much acceptable nowadays, don't be afraid of what people think you are who you are! Besides you'll make the other opposite sex person miserable too if you stuck at a heterosexual relationship and alone would be tragic. If you need support get in contact with gay / lesbian groups, they've been through the transition and can give you tons of support. Be happy!

In a male-male genderic relationship, one or both men lose their manhood-- weak, effeminate males have always been weeded out since prehistoric times, but female-female relationships all one can do is to pretend to be a man, how cute. Most likely women were made to perform for their mates, especially those men that had several or more women, so it is part of the female psyche to do gay things, and it is an erotic fantasy of many men as well. East? The east what? In Asia, male-male relationships were probably OK due to the oppressive dynasties killing any men with a backbone and their entire family for thousands of years-- weak men = good for despots. It is human nature to find male-male relationships repulsive, since a weak male would often opt for buttsecks over a severe beating by a dominant male as such injuries in the times when we could barely be called human could result in a slow death.

happy with someone of the same gender, i may be slightly biased cause im gay but it seems out of the options you've given, the obvious choice. How can u compare being alone or miserable 2 being happy but gay. You make it out to be a terrible thing which it isn't at all. If your happy your happy!

As most of the other contributors have stated, Be Happy. Only you know whether for you that is in being in a mixed, or a same relationship or being on your own. I personally am single and am very happy with that, not in the least tragic as one of your answers said, but I could well understand for someone who is in that situation without choice it may well be.
Life is short and it isn't a dress rehearsal, so go for it and good luck!

I'd go for the alone or the happy (although the latter wouldn't be that likely as I'm straight!)
Bugger social correctness, this is the 21st century, do what makes you happy.

Well OBVIOUSLY the answer is happy. Any fool can see that, except for a certain group of fools who for some reason can't.
