No, no major is wasting your time. My sister studied the languages too (she was a Japanese major) and she's on her way to a successful career now. She's currently working at Japan Society in NYC. People with translational skills are rare (as English is becoming the default language), so it's GOOD to know another language. Don't worry/listen to what other people say, every major is noteworthy (unless you're a psych. major, LoL).

No. French is still the language spoken at the United Nations. You could be a French teacher. In fact majoring in a language is a lot more difficult than majoring in a liberal arts like Psychology, Sociology, English, History, etc. Reason is to learn a language you need to be disciplined and exact. No room for errors. Unlike liberal arts, in which you give your opinion and write an argument to support it. Last thing we need in this world is another person with another opinion based on emotion and ignorance and that they are willing to defend, nevertheless.

As long as you're going to school that's all that matters. And for the freaks with the grammar comments, those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. I've looked at your questions and you're not that perfect. Mistakes are made.

No. You could be a translator or work in France. More disturbing is the fact that you can't spell a simple English word like "wasting."

travel agencies, translation, teaching all are prospects plus your college education does not have to define where you go - it just shows you can work your brain for 3 years!!

waist of time is like doing nothing at all.....in your case....you are doing what i think you like to do...and at least studing the major course that you like...if not, than...change of subject and get other major course, but you are not waisting time in any way....keep the good study and hard work....the world needs people like you and responsable....keep the challenge to be your goal....beat it.....win it....
