Well first of all their quarterback is Brady Quinn, who is supposed to be the top QB in the NFL draft next year.

Their head coach is Charlie Weis, who was the Patriots Defensive Coordinator when they won all those Super Bowls.

Jeff Samarzdjia (not sure if i spelled that right) is the teams best wide receiver; he also signed a contract to play baseball for the Cubs.

Darius Washington is the halfback, and he's pretty good.

ND has a decent defense, which should allow them to contend for a national championship.

Also, be on the lookout for Regis Philbin at ND games, he went to ND too and is a big big fan.

Overall, have fun at Notre Dame!

P.S. They have the greatest fight song ever!

They have won more National Championships than anyone else in college football and will once again field a very good team though not as good as some think. Georgia Tech at Grant Field will not be an easy first game. Remember the Jackets beat Auburn and Miami on the road! You are going to a school with the biggest football traddition ever but the Yellow Jackets will win over the Irish 27-24. Good luck and I wish you the best!

packerswes4 summed it up nicely. And he also has good taste in pro football teams. I'm a junior at ND and I came in as a Wisconsin fan knowing absolutely NOTHING about Irish football. We can talk about the traditions, the Irish Guard, the band, the cheers, the green jerseys, and the rivalries; we can talk about the players, D-Walk, the Shark, BQ, T. Laws; we could even talk about how good they're supposed to be this year, after going to the Fiesta Bowl in Charlemagne's first season, however, none of that really means anything 'til you wake up on Saturday, don the Shirt, play catch on the quad, and then go stand on rickety wooden benches and yell yourself hoarse for four hours. It's basically impossible to describe the tangible excitement that electrifies the air. Don't worry about not knowing anything, you'll pick it up soon enough. I hadn't so much as heard the Victory March before in my life and two years later I can sing it in my sleep, so don't worry, you'll be fine. Best advice, have fun, don't worry, get into it, and watch the kids who have been there before.

Two more things, you should pick packerswes4's answer as the best one, and what hall are you in? Congratulations.

What you need to know is notre dame football is religion in South Bend. There is nowhere near enough room here to fill you in even one iota. What you can be sure of is Notre Dame will be over rated going into the season every year. . .and every 15 years they will live up to the hype. Nbc who carries all their games will hype them to death. . . . .They are however. . one of college footballs elite programs and you either love em or hate em.

Notre Dame is in France, and in France they play REAL football. But if you are going to school in the American Notre Dame, don't worry because they play a silly game that they call football. Just tell them " This is not football, soccer is real football". They may not agree with you, but you will know the truth and you will graduate with honours........Good luck and I wish you the best........That comes from a crazy Englishman.

I don't know if this is just the girls' dorms or what, but I know that at some point before the first game they have a thing for freshmen where they teach them all the cheers and other football-related traditions. I never went, but I assume it would be helpful.

As far as the game itself, ask the nearest male relative. Or go to Wikipedia, look up football.
