and it just gets worse. When girls reach high school, it seems they are all regular heavy smokers. Many parents pick up their daughters from school and they hop in the car, cig lit and puffing hard. Sure, they do look sexy, but why is it happening--almost every girl smokes freely.

Smoking among teens is (thankfully) at an all-time low. Some kids don't get the message and will end up dead... that's how the world is. With a warning on every pack there's not much else we as a society can do... survival of the fittest.

Unfortunately, you answered your own question. Because all the girls smoke. It's called peer pressure, being one of the group. Individualism is a difficult lesson to learn. If one of the popular girls would rebel and not smoke and openly criticize smoking, many of the girls would stop. (this would work even better if the guys criticized smokers.)

They know they look sexy and a lot of men find that there is nothing more beutiful than to watch a young attractive girl smoke. Young female smoking is on the increase, it used to be rebellious males.

Because they are f*cking RETARDED!!
They wanna feel grown up, or cool, or they just wanna experience something fun or new. For years they'll probably think that they do it b/c they "like it." But trust me, they don't REALLY like it. Their chests hurt in the morning, they can't walk up a flight of stairs without having to catch their breath, they ALWAYS smell like sh*t, and they have a constant, unrelenting nagging in their brain for another cigarette. They're too young to realize how horrible it is, and they won't until they finally decide to quit (IF they ever do, before it kills them.)
People who were never smokers have no idea what it's like to be a smoker, though, and I hate it when they try to give smokers "advice" about quitting. So if you fall into this category, please f*ck off. It's been proven that the physical and mental addiction to smoking is stronger than that of heroin. Think about it, people that do H do it b/c it gets them high. Wtf does smoking do? I haven't felt a buzz from a cigarette in years. It simply relieves the stress that it itself imposes on the smoker. Therefore, both are killing themselves slowly, but only one is reaping ANY benefit whatsoever.
So if you don't know what it's like to have something clinging to your brain, screaming at you to have "just one more smoke" then get off our backs. Most smokers know that it's bad, but like I said before, they THINK that they enjoy it. My advice, never start. It's just not worth it.

hey!!my name is diana lee and i am 11 yrs old.and this s my anser.the girls in ur school smoke b cuz they think that there big and bad and want 2 b n the "in crowd"but its not worth risking your life.everyday you take out weed, cocane, cigarettes, wutever,and use it,u get more and more closer 2 death.so if sumone tells u 2 go and smoke a joint with them or go hav a drink of beer with them,dont do it cuz then your goin to end up like them.

I think they believe it makes them look sexy, grown-up, and hot for some reason. I hope they stop smoking. My husband smoked as a teenager and he died at 48 from lung cancer, for two years I watched him struggle with this cancer and saw what he went through it was not nice. So it's not worth it to try and impress others with a cigarette hanging from your mouth.

it makes them feel grown up and to fit into a group and alot of peer pressure to belong. some parents would rather have them smoke in their sight instead of going behind their back or steal money to get the smokes. if you dont smoke dont do it feel sorry for them be yourself.
