Unlike many movies, on The Little Mermaid, Eric is almost a secondary character, he doesn't do much, he's just the guy Ariel is in love with. Her sea friends are the ones who help her and do most of the talking during the movie. Eric is a just blue eyed pretty boy.

Ariel swam with eric theory hard stormy water until eventually eventually she were given to the coastline. by using that element i'm confident she must have snagged him or bumped him right into some products of waft timber and rocks from the hurricane that sank his deliver. so, youthful mermaid + stormy water+ useless weight Prince= torn pants and no boots

He's there for Ariel, I don't think she could have killed Ursula herself either physically or mentally as she's the kind, sweet heroine/star of the film.

hes just a prince!! what do princes do?? be charming, gorgeous, gentle, they love the female main characters and they are sons of the royaltyy... they may sometimes be brave (in this case 4 example) and just be there for her "princess".... He´s not a hero, he just does what he has to do, take care of her dear princess....
