Because it's just what everyone says no matter how well or otherwise they are, and whether they are at the beach or at the Drs. Most people just use a couple of words to describe how they are (from good to bad!): Brill, fine, alright, ok, not as good as you (!), not bad, surviving etc. Very few people seem to actually say that yeah they feel naff, they didn't get any sleep last night due to the heat, the pizza they ate last night gave them a bad stomach and so on... and sometimes I am glad they leave out the details. Anyways, if they have taken themselves to the Drs they obviously aren't too bad. (Otherwise the Dr would have to visit them).

It's a British thing and maybe they are really ok and are just at the doctors for repeat persciptions and I bet you have said the same yourself when your have been feeling like hell and have said your ok when you really aren't, were all too daft in this country.

'Cos they're getting a sicknote to send in the post to keep their wages appearing whilst watching daytime tv and eating chocolate liquors for a hobbie.

So I have heard.
