There is a free program called 7-zip, it can compress and decompress several types of compressed file and has an option to split larger files to floppy-disk size (750k) which is ideal for emailing.
Use 7-zip (or similar utility) to compress and split your large file, then email the sections separately to be reassembled by the recipient.
Make sure your recipient understands how to reassemble the file, and has access to suitable software.

Have you tried to Zip it. It is a system where the data is compressed into a much smaller file. The person you are sending it to will also need to Un-Zip it as well.

Use http://www.rapidshare.de . Its a file hosting site. You can upload your file there and you will be provided with a link. Send that link to your friend and he or she will be able to download that file using that link. They also provide a delete link, so that you can delete the file from their servers after your friend has completed downloading it.

How big is too big? There is a program called FILE SPLITTER you could use. If YAHOO's 10MB isn't big enough you might have to pay to trasfer it if you don't have your own ftp space.
