DON'T USE OVEN CLEANER!!!! It has extremely toxic and caustic chemicals in it. You could end up burning yourself the next time you get in the tub. You can' be sure you've completely rinsed it all away. BAD BAD IDEA!!!!!

The surface of your tub may have tiny scratches in it that you can't even see....if so, the discoloration is coming from those scratches and it will be very difficult to remove. If you've tried a few of the commercial products designed for cleaning the tub and it isn't working, consider having it professionally refinished.

A whole lotta scrubbing. That worked for our tub when my brother spent a whole day scrubbing the tub floor. Another good recommendation is spray Chlorox on the tub, leave the bathroom well ventilated and leave it for a couple of hours, and then clean it out. I don't know how toxic that is, though, but I shower in my tub that had Chlorox in it, and guess what, I'm still alive.
