I've read all the answers here and don't really find a correct one. The biblicists will tell you anything that doesn't agree with them is evil and the Devil's gonna get you. Crap!
The Necronomicon? I have a copy of the Avon Books edition, available in most books stores of any size. Has nothing to do with metaphysics and a lot about black magic, much along the lines of H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulu mythos. No metaphysics there at all, save your money.
As for the person who says there's nothing there - well, either they did not pursue long enough or hard enough to achieve any level of recognized metaphysical understanding.
Pursuit of metaphysical understanding is a relatively hard task. It will involve dumping a lot of your current beliefs, developing a talent for recognizing a greater truth when it presents itself - often causing the dissolution of something else you thought was truth.
There is no cut and dried manner in which one can grow metaphysically. First off, you will eventually recognize that you have to shake off many preconceived notions of what you think knowledge of metaphysics will make you. Will you gain wisdom, yes. Will it be easy, no. Will it tax your patience and invoke stages of spiritual disenchantment, yes. Is it ultimately worth the cost, definitely yes.
It is said by many that there are spiritual truths found in all the world's religions. This may be so, but to wean them out you have to shuck anything that teaches dependence - on saviours, on prophets, or demands subservience to the one or the many gods. With metaphysical understanding there is total independence, no fear of gods or devils heavens or hells.
Does it take courage to walk this path? Yes. And stamina, and determination and patience (which you will learn because you will have no other choice). But if you stay focused, pursue any and all avenues of inquiry, you will find that you do grow, particularly if you do a self assessment periodically and guage how you once were with how you are - what you knew then vs what you know now.
Spiritual pursuit demands a high price, but the rewards are worth it. For those who say nothing is there, they failed in their own pursuit for some reason or another. Spirit pays off according to will and stick-to-itiveness. If you are one who throws in the towel at the drop of a hat, then it's not for you. If you harbor fears based in religious dogma of any kind - it's not for you. If you want knowledge for the sake of manipulating others, you will be left wanting. It is a solitary journey that require immense integrity and personal honesty. If you are lacking in this, then don't start for you will surely fail.
Some books that helped me in altering my perspective:
Conversations with God - Neale Donald Walsh -- vols. 1-3
Journey of Souls by Michael Newton, PhD. (everyone should read this book).
The Kryon Books (search for them on the internet, then order them vols 1 & 2 specifically)
Bringers of the Dawn - Barbara Marciniak
The Tao Te Ching - translated by Jane English & Gia Fu Feng
If you can't find that, the the translation by Hua Ching Ni
These volumes should set you well on your path and open new doors of self understanding. The paranoid religionists will never get it and will always tell you you're dallying with the devil. Ignore them as they are dealing from seats of profound fear and dogmatic paranoia. You will soon see this for yourself. Realize this and you will understand Jesus' parable about casting pearls before swine.
Hope this post helps. At least it's more validly informative than what is posted so far. And may I wish you much success on your journey.

Start by trying to locate a copy of the Necronomicon. If you live in Massachusetts, Miskatonic had a very good translation, but that got stolen some time ago and I do not know if it was ever recovered. The Harvard library also had a copy on loan for a while. If you can't find a decent translation of the Necronomicon (the Golden Goblin edition is riddled with errors and mistranslations- try to get a copy of the Abdul Alhazred original, though the Olaus Wormius Latin version is supposed to have some interesting insights), you may want to try other texts suc as ‘De Vermis Mysteriis’, ‘The Pnakotic Manuscripts’, ‘Les Cultes des Ghoules’, and ‘The Book of Eibon’.
Do be aware that strange types also seem drawn to such things and that people have been known to report everything from being hunted by phantom hounds to invasions by tentacled multidimensional entities after reading such works. But that is mere exagerration, no doubt, and fantasy.
I would also encourage you to stop by the Church of Starry Wisdom if you ever stop by Innsmouth. Be sure to ask for Dagon.

Bahar,
I was heavily involved in every aspect of so-called Metaphysics for many years. In all honesty, what you are looking for isn't there. If you are like most people, you want to know the answers to the central questions of life. Who and what, exactly am I, and what am I supposed to be doing here? Is there a way to do that better? I can tell you, after about 37 years of searching every system of belief known to man, that you will not find the answer in Metaphysics. There are some great philosophical writings in Metaphysics, but it leads you away from what you are seeking. You are seeking the Most High. You want to find the Path to Eternity, and begin walking it. The reason I know this, is that we are all programmed with this desire in the deepest reaches of our hearts. I can save you a great deal of time and disappointment. Our destiny, is to become symbiotically bonded with the Spirit of the Creator. When you invite Him into your heart, with humility and love, He sends His Spirit into you, and bonds with you. You become a new creature, part mortal, and part Immortal. The old values of materialism and fear fall away. Love and Wisdom become the foundation of all your choices. You have embarked on the Path of Eternity, and you will never be the same again. Please note that I am not talking about the religions of men, but God Himself.

You can start by first figuring out WHY you are so interested in Metaphysical things. Try reading some Sylvia Browne books...or visit a metaphysical section of a bookstore and find a book that peaks your interest. You will take off from there.

bahar777, I consider myself somewhat of a believer also in being a metaphysician which means looking beyond the material (matter) I think. It is a study of biblical truth from a perspective of seeing byond the words spoken.
Some people like to take the Bible literally, and I have trouble with that in some instances which I won't go into, not enough space. Metaphysicians take responsibility for their mistakes rather than blaming God. They recognize that we are cocreators with God in the choices we make about how we live, especially our thought life where reason occurs. The use of affirmations is quite important to discontinue unwise thoughts. ie: I Am is god's way of creating the same as we create our lives by using the I AM words, this is why
I am feeling good is better to say
if I want to feel good. I am sick is not so good, because you bring sickness in by your words and allow it to be your truth. See/Si
Unity Church of Practical Christianity is a church that celebrates this concept of liberation from the continual practice of complaints, mismanagement of one's life and behavior, and does help one to grow and learn how much it helps to know that your words create what you want, in written word, spoken word, and decisions acted out. It's pretty heavy, and difficult to get used to watching every word you say, but it does work, and I'm here to say it works very well. My suffering was complete due to my self inflicted nonsense (sin)so that now that I know better, I have taught myself to be more careful in choosing.

There are many books on this and several schools too. I don't have the name of one right here but look it up. One good one is out of California.
Many of us are searching in other ways now and it will only continue.
If you haven't read the Conversation With God books, do so.
Amazing stuff that we really knew all along. Since I first read them I have become so much more creative and spiritual and my dreams are just amazing.
We are all amazing and I hope you find what you are seeking!

Stay away from all things, "Metaphysical". It's evil and a pathway for Satan to infect your life.
Read your Bible instead.

Metaphysics by definition is all made up, so you don't need to study it, just make stuff up!
