About 4 months ago I got REALLY constipated, I had never gotten that constipated before. I was very confused b/c I'm doing everything right.I took a lactive and that helped but a few weeks later I got constipated again. I descied not to take any thing and after a few day it cleared up. But a few weeks later I got constipated once again. It's a patten, a week or two I'm fine then I get constipated again. This has become very stressful and frustrating for me because no matter how much fiber i eat, or water i drink or exersice i get i still get constipated. the only thing that seems to help is a laxitive, but I don't like using them b/c I don't want my digestive system to get depended on it. I don't know what is wrong with me I think it might be IBS but I have no idea. So if theres anyone out there who knows anything about this PLEASE HELP ME!!!

I agree with you, you don't want to get dependant on laxitives. You also don't want to strain very hard to pass your stools, that leads to hemmorhoids. It sounds like you're starting to get IBS. The best thing is to see a doctor, that way he can rule out any other complications or underlying causes, and give you the best treatment. You really deserve the best, so don't settle for less. You don't need this kind of pain in the butt (pardon the pun...LOL). Best of luck to you......

Talk to a doctor about this. It's probably nothing serious and something that can be controlled with diet.

My son has a disorder called constipation with encopresis which is caused by an irregularly shaped colon. His disorder was curable by taking a daily dose of Enulose Syrup.

I'm not suggesting this is what you have, but a doctor can diagnose and give you the proper solution.

Myself, I'm hooked on Metamucil. One glass of the stuff a day and you'll have a good morning BM!

If you have a diet that's heavy in breads, pastas, and cheese, that can bind you up. If you're doing everything right and it's not any of those things, you should go see your doctor, you could have a more serious problem. If it's not a medical problem, something that could help is adding olive oil to foods that you eat. It's got to be the extra virgin olive oil. I don't know what it is about that, but it's almost sinister with it's ability to make you poo.

If you strain, you will hurt yourself and wind up with hemorrhoids, and that is no fun. Eat more fiber and drink lots of water, but don't get to a point where you are abusing or relying too heavily on the laxatives. If you are that worried, go see a doctor.

if you want a real answer drink apple juice, a few glasses a day also you can peel an apple and let it sit until it`s real brown.and then eat it.it sounds gross but that process develops the pectin and that`s a natural laxative. stay away from orange juice that will make it worse. this should help, if it doesn`t you may want to see a doctor. have a good one c ya

See a doctor. Don't push more or you'll end up with hemmorrhoids or fissures. Drink lots of water, eat more fiberous foods, stay away from rice because it is binding.
You might want to try mineral oil (solid kind) - take a spoonful at night to help soften you up.

Take Metamucil and eat more fiber. Drink plenty of water. Don't push too hard because you may give yourself a hernia. Stay away from narcotics because they will constipate you more.

I am very serious when I say you need medical answers. I was constipated with what was called locked bowels when I was 10 yrs.old. Back then the doctor came to your house. The doctor actually had to use sergical pliars to remove the blockage. I could have suffocated, and died because of oxygen loss. I am 55 now, and had a problem about 4yrs. ago again. This time I went to the hospital, and was administered a number of different laxative baths. Please seek help , and check what you eat(especially cheese). Good luck.

If it only happens every few weeks, you can use a laxative without worry. You won't get dependent on it as long as it's not every day.
