I think if an old horse is suffering they should NOT hang it and slit its throat and all that stuff they should give it that shot that puts them to sleep that is painless. I don't think we will ever be able "put an end to" either, there's too big a market. What is needed is stronger legislation and harder rules. The fact is that there are more horses out there than there are owners, so what can we do with the homeless horses? As far as animal testing- it's either them or us, and as sad as it is, it's much cheaper and less hassle to choose a rat or rabbit than it is to test stuff on people. I think we need to find a happy medium.

i'd rather put restrictions on horse slaughter. If it was regulated to ONLY old, sick, dieing horses then I wouldn't be nearly as upset about it. Most of the horses slaughtered are healthy horses. Think about it, would a butcher buy skinney, sick, old cattle?

There are restrictions already in place concerning animal testing, so that issue doesn't concern me as much. Horses are much more aware of their lives that rats.

I'd certainly choose ending horse slaughter because there doesn't seem to be a way to regulate it so that it's humane.
