my question is supposed to be: Do you think the U.S. could ever allow a Mexican-American to run for president?

I think so. I don't think Mexican-Americans have problems of going up the ladder. To succeed, the same rules apply for anyone: Presence, Education, Strength, Passion and Persistence.

The main trouble at a deeper level is that a Mexican-American can't rise easily as a traditionalist. They will likely need to be marxist and sympathetic to Castro and that goon Chavez in Venezuela.

And because Mexican-Americans core base is stanch Catholic, the willingness for Liberal America to embrace someone is quite tough.

The Constitution permits only people born in the U.S. to be President.

However, someone born here to Mexican parents is considered a native-born citizen and is eligible for the top office.

Your question is as much social as political, however -- like asking if an African American could ever be President, or a Jew, or a Muslim.

The answer is yes. Anyone, from any race or national background, or religion can be President. However, given the fact that many people like to vote for people like themselves, it probably will take some time.

According to the Constitution there are only THREE requirements for the U.S. Presidency:
1. Be at least 35 years old.
2. Be a native born U.S. citizen.
3. Have had residency in the U.S. for 14 years prior to election.

Thats's it....nothing else. Of course there are many "it really helps", such as being white, male, Christian.

i don't think so... the only kind of people they ever allow are probably americans... and that means no other race, including mexican, asian, and european, and other types...

and he has to be born in america, not born in mexico and immigrated here... they wouldn't allow those kind of people to run, illegal or not.

Only if they were born in the United States. And of course it would be allowed, it would just be a matter if people voted him in.

It should, if the person in question covers all necessary conditions. It would be a nice thing too, to show fascist people in america that USA is, unquestionably, a country of immigrants.
