Genuinely interested in your opinion of the theory of evolution.
Do you believe in the crawling from the primordial ooze?
Do you believe humans came from "monkeys"?
C'mon...bring your best PERSONAL opinion and explain why....please don't cut and paste 800 character science reports of bible scripture...I want to know what YOU believe in your heart of hearts.
And YES, I meant to put this in philosophy.

One of the problems with the "theory" of evolution is a misunderstanding of the word "theory." For scientists who study such things, a theory isn't a guess, it's a fact. When they're guessing, they can it a hypothesis, then set about to prove it or disprove it. Along the way they come closer to the truth.
There's no denying the theory of evolution. It's a scientific fact.
Humans didn't descend from monkeys. Monkeys are much too recent a species for humans to have decended from them. Humans and monkeys had a similar ancestor. Millions of years ago, that ancestor evolved into one line that ultimately became humans and into another line that led to chimpanzees and great apes, which are our closest genetic relatives.
We know this because scientists have found and established ages for fossilized bones. By studying changes in the sizes and shapes of the bones over time, these scientists can trace the development of humans from tree-dwellers, to upright walkers, to toolmakers, and, ultimately, to us. Each change made the species more adapted to its environment, which has constantly been changing.
Philosophically, it's a no-brainer. Even learned theologians agree that the stories in the Bible -- particularly in the Book of Genesis -- are based on the mythologies of the times in which it was written. The story of Adam and Eve is just a story, not fact. And the age of the universe isn't mentioned in the Bible at all. It was calculated by a priest in the Middle Ages. Each metaphorical "day" of the creation could have lasted billions of years.

1.
Evolution is a WELL established scientific theory. With A LOT of evidence all pointing the same way.
2.
Intelligent design is in its infancy. The theory behind intelligent design is that the life on Earth was intelligently designed and did not evolve naturally. There are several ways to prove it. One "smoking gun" way to prove would be to meet some intelligent aliens who would show us their genetic engineering plans for designing the life Earth. That would definitely prove ID.
Another way to prove it -- is by showing that some things are "irreducibly complex."[1] So far the candidates are blood's ability to clot and Flagellum motion mechanism. However, the research done on this possibility is VERY small and is FAR from conclusive.
Unfortunately Intelligent design is being hijacked by creationists who base their belief in the origin of life on faith and not on scientific data, so the idea is not being researched well and is loosing credibility.
3.
Creationism is a belief based on some "holy book" written thousands years ago that claims that God created all life on earth.
Of course, Creationism is not so much wrong as it is unnecessary. Bible does not say HOW the god created earth. The chosen method could have been Evolution. Yet creationists irrationally deny evolution ignoring HUGE scientific evidence.
Conclusion:
Right now my money is on Evolution. However i would like to see more CREDIBLE research done on the Intelligent design hypothesis. As for creationists -- if they had it their way we would still think that the sun revolves around the earth -- un-justified belief has no place in science.

it is each and every of the rely of your values. in case you got here from the non secular relations that instilled the values of religion and creationism on your options it is maximum possibly what you'll believe for some thing else of your existence, equivalent to even as your moms and dads inform you the grass is eco-friendly it truly is what you believe, even as it might want to be that 1/2 of the human beings imagine it is pink. there is also no absolute reality so the evolution theory is only that, a theory and creationism is yet another theory that has evel a lot less information to it, which incorporates regrettably the bible would not clarify the early kinds of humanoids that resembled monkeys a lot closer than we do. If we assume that God is a some thing it fairly is unknown to us, case in point yet another measurement of ability and intelligence that exists accessible then we can say that it performed a particular position interior the creation of the universe, similar way because the gravity is coming up existence in the international by using holding our livable surroundings. some cultures worship Earth as a God and in case you imagine of it as an ecosphere you may imagine Earth as a residing being, yet i comprehend it might want to be particularly a stretch for some human beings. i'm hoping that all and sundry is sensible

My opinion is this.
Evolution is pretty well established. We see it happening every day. It is such a tiny speck when compared to history.
Genisis is a pretty good way to explain the creation of the world to a simple shepard who likely has never been more than a mile from thier house, cannot read and views the entire world though they eyes of mysticism and superstition.
Humans do not seem to perfectly fit this world. If indeed we evolved here then should our nature be more atune to this world? The athmosphere isn't quite right. If deprived of any sense of time we live and work in 36-48 hour days not 24 hour days. We are maladapted for the extremes of this planet and compared ot manyo thers this is indeed a very mild place to live.
So there might just be something to our origions being from somewhere else. Adam and Eve suggesting a Sci-Fi like origional group falling from Eden (A place we fit much better).
As for the Earth only being 2000 years old. Sorry have zero belief in that. I am a Christian but the Bible is CLEARLY not meant to be read literally. If it was best learn Greek and Hebrew because the English translations are a mockery of the Greek and Hebrew words. That is assuming that all those books tossed out actually were rightly tossed out and that all those origional writers were devinely inspired. I disagree. It is playing into athiest's hands to try to defend the Bible as devinely protected through each copy and translation. It's not. Many of the architects of the Bible made it for political reasons not Godly reasons.
Geological evidence, carbon dating, astronomy and several other sciences clearly prove this world has been around longer than 2,000 years. Even the Bible implies a great length of time between Adam and Eve and the next chapter in the Bible. The tower of Babel is an excellent illustration of a parable. If you read it literally it sounds a little silly actually. If you think about it though, how would you explain to a child they way societies split? The tower of Babel is an excellent parable explaining man's tendancy to quarel even when united in all other purpose. That such quarells often lead to alienation and splintering. So the Tower of Babel is more than an explanation it's also a warning against fanaticism.
The Bible if you read it this way is an excellent guide to building a successfull civalization. If you read it literally you have an excellent guide to blocking civalization. Thus the Evolution vrs Creationism. Evolution is a theory. We are just beginning to gain the science needed to even explore this question. That evolution happens is proven. Did we evolve from a single cell organism? Thats a good question and one we are trying to answer. Did we origionate on this planet? Another good quesiton and one that will be asked more and more I suspect over the next 100 years.
The Creationist view of things is to stand against science. To mock the years of work creating this science. The fanatical Evolutionist view is to block science just as completely. Theories are often wrong, they are ideas. Gatways to explore. Even if the idea is flawed the exploration of that idea often brings us the actual truth. So to teach it as fact is to close the door to furthor exploration. To be as closed minded as the Creationists.
The fact is we know very little about anything. We do not even know enough to measure our own ignorance. Every so many generations we get a nice shock to remind us just how ignorant we are. Einstien was probably the most recent. Though Mach's work actually laid a foundation for some of it. Reality to us is based on physical laws. The problem is these are really laws based on context. Exceed the speed of sound and a few of those laws actually change. That's a mind bender for humans as laws are LAW. They are unbreakable they are the foundations of our concept of reality. There is the big problem. Our desperate clutching of the log we call reality. It's slippery, it's not quite what we think it is. So when it rolls in our grasp it scares us. This fear causes us to grip it all the tighter. This white knuckle grip is fanticism. It is to defy the nature of the log and attempt to make it something comfortable for us. It's not, it's a log. It's going to roll with the waves, it'll spin, it'll even sink if it's in the water long enough. What then? That's how people feel when a core belief o thier's is challenged. They feel like thier log is sinking and Lord help anybody who tries to sink thier log.
Logical answer is of course to learn how to swim. Who knows how many logs, islands and other wonders are out there to see and experience.
Great philosophical question if taken in that context. A great many doors can open from this question. What will not happen most likely is a deffinitive answer to the question which was given us. What can happen is a better understanding of the value of that question and what our own individual answers to it mean to us.
What kind of log do you hang on too? How tight is your grip?
