I owned Piranha's in the seventies. I started with about 25 2 in.
babies. It took about 3 years to get them up to breeding size of about 10 inches. They are very aggressive. At the end of thre years I had one female and 5 males left. I managed to breed them once and raise about 120 of the to 3 inches before selling them to the pet stores. The female killed all the males about 3 days after scattering her eggs. They are a messy fish and expensive to feed. In the seventies I would go smelt fishing and
catch enough to freeze and feed them for six months. When cleaning the 300 gallan tank I would lower the water level so that the fish were sideways and scoop them up with a 5 gallon bucked to transfer then to another tank.

I had one years ago, his name was Chop Chop. I fed him guppies and little hamburger balls as a treat, but he usually just ate regular goldfish food most of the time.
