If you are the parent, believe your child is responsible enough, and get the protective gear to go with it. I've seen several 13 year olds have alot lot of fun with airsoft guns while showing they can be safe and responsible at the same time. Builds their confidence and responsibility if you enforce your rules around it.

It depends on how mature the 13 year old is. There's no simple answer to this. In my family we were taught to respect guns from the time we were very young, and we were all taught how to use them safely and properly when we were around 11 or 12 years old. But we were never allowed to treat them as "toys". Even air rifles were serious business.

If you have to be 18 to purchase it, then no. I do not agree with children having firearms of any kind. But only the parents can make that determination of the childs maturity. I personally, say no. 18 or no guns.

I think it depends on the maturity of the 13 year old. If you teach them gun safety and they use it properly it would be fine.
