rosetta stoned is my favorite song off of that album. i'm under the impression that the song is about tony blair dropping acid in the desert. i listen to it everytime i'm on drugs & its meaning changes everytime. currently i think it's a giant metaphor for the human struggle within one's self & the struggle with what we've turned the future into.

I think that on one had it's a comical interpretation of how humanity is always given amazing divine gifts (aliens as a "deus ex machina") and doesn't know what to do with them, and just f***s it up. On the other hand I think it's a commentary on how it's always the crazies who seem to be the first contacted, which suggests either that "higher intelligences" aren't really that smart, or don't exist in the first place. It's maynard. He probably means at least 5 different and contradictory things.

That song is... out there...

From what I take on it, I think it's like life as he's wakign up compleately stoned. The music style also reminds me of "The pot" (which I think appeared on an earlier album, too...), and could be the other side of it.

Its about Blair taking DMT or some other drug and he sees aliens.
He was the chosen one to deliver the message about the future of humanity.
If you goto Toolband.com and look at the updates, Blair wrote a long entry on this. It was a couple months back.
