It's completely harmless- they don't even bite. Put a small plastic cup or container over him, so the rim of the cup touches the window glass and he is trapped underneath. Slide a piece of paper under that, so he is trapped between the paper and the cup, and then release him outside. You won't have to touch him with your hands or anything.

Don't kill him- praying mantises eat bugs- they are really useful and beneficial creatures.

Open the window and let it out. Praying Mantis have no venom and are more frightened of you then you are of it.

Praying Mantis are ambush predators. They sit and wait, blending in with foliage. When an insect gets near they pounce on it, grab it with their powerful front claws and start to dismember and eat it. So they don't have or need venom, they work best by hiding, and they make good eating for birds.

The insect is either going to run when you approach or freeze, more likely the latter. So just open the window and let it out.

Man, that IS freaky! I hate bugs, but it depends on if you want it dead or alive. Personally, if it was in my room it'd be dead already. Windex is great for bugs like that. Just give him a healthy squirt of that stuff and pick him up with a big wad of paper towels and flush him down the toilet. GOD, I HATE BUGS! Good luck!

Okay, I just read all the other answers and I feel bad for telling you to kill it. I guess you should just let it outside or make friends with it, even though the thought of touching it makes me wanna pull my hair out. UGH!

Do nothing. They won't harm you. Praying mantis get rid of roaches, spiders and other insects. Without them we would have more bugs to worry about.

dont look at it with your eyes, they will attack your eyes first, they are very dominent, and are one of the best natural predators out there, remember they eat eachother. get a jar and try to catch it in the jar and give it to some brat kid that will take it as a pet.

Praying Matises are GOOD bugs - they eat other bugs, and they don't bite or sting. If you want, you can even pick it up - it won't hurt you a bit!

Capture it in a container and move it outside. They are good to have around.
