Please tell me I'm trying to find a book version that I can read on the way to my family reuion. .. . thanks!

I WANT TO KNOW IF THERE IS A LONG BOOK THATS THE SAME STORY!! and if that is the book?!!!

Or rather, "Aida" by Elton John & Tim Rice is a contemporary version of "Aida" by Giuseppe Verdi. Verdi's is a Grand Opera, John & Rice is a musical (or pop opera, if you prefer). Based on the same story, but Verdi came first.

ADDENDUM: Sounds like you're looking for a book version you can read while traveling. Basically, the answer is: no such book. It's always been a stage show. Giuseppe Verdi's "Aida" is an opera, not a book--meaning it's solid music, beginning to end. Best you could do to entertain yourself is buy the CD of either one and listen to it. Sorry.

Well they're both based on the same story of Aida. The music isn't the same.
