From Dr. Green "When the mosquito stabs her needle-like mouthparts through the skin of her victim, she injects her saliva -- teeming with digestive enzymes and anticoagulants. The first time a person is bitten, there is no reaction. With subsequent bites, the person becomes sensitized to the foreign proteins, and small, itchy, red bumps appear about 24 hours later. This is the most common reaction in young children. After many more bites, a pale, swollen hive, or wheal, begins to appear within minutes after a bite -- followed by the red bump 24 hours later. This is the most common reaction in older children and adolescents.
With repeated mosquito bites, some people begin to become insensitive again, much as if they had allergy shots. Some older children and adults get no reaction to mosquito bites (unless they go for a long time without being bitten -- then the process can start again). Other people become increasingly allergic with repeated stings. They can develop blistering, bruised, large inflammatory reactions. For these people, avoiding being bitten is a particularly good idea." *

Karen gave you a great answer why they itch, but I can tell you how to make them stop itching. It's pretty weird, but it works great and was recommended by my pediatrician who's "been around" for a long while!

Have your child pee in a dixie cup. Get a Q-tip and dip in the urine and dot on the insect bit. With in a minute the itching stops and the relief lasts for hours. I have 3 teen age boys, we've done this their whole lives, it works great. Though, they would NEVER tell their friends this crazy little family secret!! LOL

When a mosquito bites a person they inject a fluid that thins the blood, that fluid irritates the skin. It is only the female mosquito that bites.

Spray your children with mosquito and they will be protected. Mosquitoes transmite disease.

because as they insert their stylets on your pores and skin they regurgitate saliva. Researches have stumbled on many major factors of their saliva, maximum of them help the mosquito in a unmarried way or the different. operating example some factors dilate (or develop) the capillaries in case you want to extra actual extract your priceless blood. some others are anesthesic (so that you do not experience de bite) and yet others are anticoagulant (so the bypass of blood is quick and uninterrupted) permitting them to suck your blood before you kill them. some cells on your pores and skin belong to the Immune equipment (Langerhan cells and others), even as they arrive in contact with overseas molecules (factors) interior the mosquito's saliva they react rapidly and modern this factors to effector cells that proke an acute inflammatory reaction with redness, swelling, itching, and warm temperature. that is a customary reaction of your pores and skin and an attempt to heal the stupid mosquito bite.
