My wife needs a little "love you" present to brighten up her day, and I'm out of ideas. She's not the 'flowers' type.

Chocolates?

Massage at a day spa?

Breakfast in bed?

New mothers, what would you want?

Get a babysitter for overnight, then both of you dress up fine, have a very nice meal, and go dancing. Make her feel beautiful & desired, then come home for leisurely lovemaking (which is impossible with a baby there!) Good luck!

The day spa thing always works great, but make sure that you have all the child care details worked out so that the day is stress free for your wife. I also love when my husband arranges an overnight with just the two of us-it might be a bit more than 100, but you can find good deals on hotels, depending on the time of the year and the places close enought to drive to. If she likes to read, you can get her a 100 gift certificate for a book store, then take the kids out for the day so she can relax and read. This is so sweet-good luck!

I'm not the flowers type either and I, too, need a break. I've got a little baby who's medically fragile and we've been through so much. Back to your question. What I would like the most from my husband would be a card telling me what a great mom I am, how much he appreciates all my efforts (and list some of them) and how fortunate he is to have me for his child's mother and his wife. I would also like a thoughtful gift, something that has meaning, like a picture of the baby that was professionally taken when I didn't know about it. If that idea doesn't work for you, how about making her little "walk" coupons for her to use. Everytime she needs a little break, she can use her coupon and YOU take the baby out for at least an hour on a walk. It works well for everyone. Mom gets a break, baby gets a walk and you get exercise. I hope this helps!

At this point it might not be anything store bought that will brighten her day. A day of being at her service would be great. Breakfast in bed was a good idea and try your hardest to tend to all the needs of the baby so she can relax and go out to a friends house or a girls day out without the baby along.

A spa and breakfast in bed are great ideas! How about:
a holistic massage
a day out without the baby - get a babysitter

This very much depends on your wife. There's a concept called a love language hthttp://www.fivelovelanguages.com/learn.html.

The idea is everyone recives Love best in differnt ways the five basic languages are

Words of Affirmation
Quality Time
Receiving Gifts
Acts of Service
Physical Touch

Think about your wife, or even ask her, and try to figure out her best love languages, It deson't sound like it's gifts, most "gifts women" like flowers.

My wife is Acts of Service and Words of Affirmantion ( complaments)

So when she needs a pick me up I either clean that house or write her a letter.

I guess that a vacation for a week would be great for both of you... If you dont have enough free time for that (or you're busy @ work) so I'd say at least a breakfast in bed and massage at the spa...

A massage at a day spa is a great idea!

OR

Send her out for lunch and a movie with a girlfriend or two. (Get gift cards and set it up with the friend beforehand.)

As a mom of a 5 month old, I would love a gift certificate or money. That plus someone to watch the kids (I have an older one as well). Shopping by myself.... I can't remember the last time that happened. When constantly taking care of others, it's nice to just take care of yourself for a little while.

The day spa sound good, or get her one of those gift cards that are good anywhere (american express, simon mall, etc.) so she can take a day with a friend and go shopping....i'm sure the day with her friend will be more thoughtful than the shopping...maybe you could include a lunch in that too. :) What a thoughtful husband!! =)
