No, the democates had a deal with the oil companies back in the early 70's and the oil companies are wanting thier end of the bargin now. If bush was all about money, he would be drilling in texas and off the gulf of mexico tring to make some money for himself. Gasoline is a free enterprise they can charge as much as they want it is not regulated by the governement. that why the usa is a free enterprise. We can charge what every we want. If people stop buying big SUV sucking up all the gas then we might not have a such a problem

No. The gas companies are abusing their power to raise the price of gasoline. The Bush administration just allows it to happen, but they don't actually do it themselves.

Abuses of power have happened, but this is not one of them... gas prices are a big embarassment to the Bush administration.

If Americans in general had ANY inkling of how capitalism runs, they'd know the individual companies raise and lower their prices in accordance with the markets. Companies - not presidents, not government agencies, not secret cabals - run their businesses. They have to make profits, or else they go out of business.

But since most Americans find it easier to play video games or listen to rap music or skateboard than read a book or stay awake in class, they'll spout dumb stuff like "the President's power to raise prices" like it were remotely true.

Study capitalism, instead of listening to the socialists bash it all the time, and you might not sound so ignorant.

Hi,,,, Listen,,, I work in the oil business for over 20 years... and i am telling you this....... The Government has Nothing to do with the price of Oil or Gasoline.......

The prices are set by Investors on Wall Street,,,who buy and sell Oil .. and the oil companies,, purchase the oil that is shipped to the refineries to be processed......

The Government,, George Bush, or Billy Graham has nothing to do with it !!!!!!!

Thank you "coco." Yes, we blame Pres. Bush for everything - why not? It's easy. Better than reading more than comic books and watching broadcast news.

Note I referred to him as "Pres. Bush" and not Bush. What happened to respect? He is the president. I didn't like Pres. Clinton - at all - since the first time I saw his face in 92 - but I would have jumped to my feet if he entered the room. There is respect for the office after all.

Pres. Bush is doing the best he can. He had high hopes for his presidency but he was blocked at every turn. I hope the voters remember who did the blocking come November.

The Bush Admin is not responsible for the rise in gas prices...it is the arab countries selling us the gas at raised prices are at fault...stop blaming the bush admin for everything...and besides if liberals were in power they would be taxing the hell out of the gas...

If the price of oil goes up, then the price of gas must go up. That is just how it works. And people have to have gas so they will have to pay whatever is asked. You can not boycott gas, not for an extended period of time anyway. If there are problems, maybe you should invest in a bicycle.

Any one that answers yes to this question is stupid and shouldn't be allowed to procreate. The world already has enough tree hugging, save the whales, kill the babies left wing idiots. Do you have any idea of how the oil business or your own government works. Read a book for crying out loud! Think for yourself and stop allowing the talking heads on TV make your decisions for you. Grow up and join the REAL world.
