Dishonesty. Listen to the vibes. I can understand if one is for fun and the other for family or business; otherwise, if they can't be honest, stay away. And you don't need to explain yourself to the person. Turn and walk away.

As others have mentioned before, I think it is mostly done out of need to divide sections of one's life. I use one email account almost exclusively for online registrations and mailing lists I am supposed to be on. Online transactions are in another email and real communication is on a third. There is nothing shady or bad vibe-causing about this-- it allows me to keep various parts of my life from overlapping and prevents me from having to wade through too much in one inbox. As email is now offering more and more sorting options I think there will be some consolidation--but I doubt I'll ever want to give out my "friends" email address to every site I register to on the internet.
Some others do use it when they are being intentionally shady--but I think in general it's an attempt to stay organized.

Hello there, I actually have 3 accounts with yahoo, I have one that is personal for friends and family, another one for my work and coworkers and a third one for my students so the parents and students can email me with concerns, I think is realy useful to have them that way. Some people just might need one, but I use my 3 accounts on a daily basis, I hope this answer your question.

I have 2 ID's because when using Yahoo message boards, you time-out after a certain number of posts in a given time. (That makes me sound like a geek). I've also used my multiple ID's to participate in more than one fantasy sports league...strike two on geekiness. But not all multiple ID users are shady and sneaky. Just nerdy, like me.

They may be using the id's for different purposes. I have one for family, one for e-pals, one for genealogy, etc. It is good to be cautious with people till you get to know them but you have crossed the line when you become so untrusting and paranoid. If you really want to know. ask the person you are concerned about instead of a forum.

I have 3 emails, not all through Yahoo. One is for family and friends, one is my junk email box (for when websites need an address) and one for my online business. Maybe people have their different IDs for the same thing? To hide from parents or spouse or soemthing?

Well there are many reasons you can choose to have more than one. My freind has two because she is moving and going to a diffrent school so she wants to have a email for her old freinds and one for her new freinds. Some people like to do stupid stuff so they create one and do somthing stupid and get deleted for a laugh. But i believe that there are some good reasons to have two just not a lot of good reasons.
hope you found that useful

It is so they can play with themselves. Yes it is very suspicious, it makes me think that they might be gaming for points, and that is definitely against the guidelines.
