Yes, because:
1-Israel has
2-America has
3-UK, France, China, Russia, India, and Pakistan have
No more double standards. I have the right to have what you have. An Egyptian proverb says: "If your house is made of glass, don't throw rocks on other people's houses!"

It's not at all hypothetical my friend....The USA want only their allies to have nuclear weapons. It's unfair! The USA slaughtered the Iraqi in 2002 claiming that the nuclear weapons Saddam had in his occupation threatened the world peace...! After the war the Americans said that they made a mistake...Now, they are claiming that Iran has nuclear weapons; but that just a reason th invade the country and destroy it completely...And why shouldn't Iran have nuclear weapons? Why would Iran be a threat and not the USA??? The latter are so bloodthirsty and murderous that they will not stop at nothing. They want to rule the whole world. They are implementing the worst form of neo-fascism...

During the Iran/Iraq war in the 80's both countries used chemical weapons against each other's soldiers. This means that Iran has a past history of using non-conventional weapons against other countries.
They have also repeatedly told the world that if they obtain nuclear weapons, they intend to use them against several targets (including - but not limited to - Israel).
The danger to the world from countries like Russia or the US from having nuclear weapons is fairly low. After all, we survived the Cold War without the world getting blown up.
The danger to the world from Iran having nukes is significantly higher.
Most rational observers seem to concur with the above analysis.

No one should have nuclear weapons. But the United States, England, China, and a few other nations that have them have shown that they aren't intending on using them. In the case of Iran the leader of their country has said more than once that Israel should be wiped off the map. This would be bad.

It is hypocritical but Iran still shouldn't have nuclear weapons. Rather, the US and all other countries should give them up. But I'm not so idealistic as to think they will, Bush's route of trying to keep the countries with them limited seems the second-best route.

If it is with in the law for them to make nuclear weapons then they should have the rights that everyone else has. No country is going to use them. It is a automatic death sentence to any country other then the USA.

I guess there are two answers to this question:
1) If you believe that there should be a balance of power to the US, yes. This goes back to the theory if that we both have guns, neither of us will shoot each other. If only one of us has a gun (the US), then ur my b*tch. But if you want this hegemonic stability to shift, then yes Iran should have the right to produce and develop nuclear weapons just like the US for "defensive" reasons as we speak.
2)Do you really think the leader of Iran is physchologically stable enough to possess this power? He has already threatened to wipe out Israel and he clearly does not have the diplomatic merits to be a leader, but only the charisma.

Look at our government's stability. Do we use them or threaten to use them? We haven't in 60+ years. We only did so to avoid a catastrophic invasion of Japan. Iran would likely sell the weapons to any group who'd like to harm the US, Israel, or most Western countries.

McAvoy21, I like your post! I'm with you. I wish no one could have them, and I think the US and many countries realized how horrible it was to use them. I think we learned our lesson. Has the rest of the world? I think if countries like Iran, N. Korea, and Iraq were to have them, they would only care about wiping out those they hate and try to use them to control the world. They have already proven their capability to do just that, so no, they shouldn't be allowed to have or make them..
