I left my job due to severe stress. In the last 8 months I was seeing a therapist and I also got gastritis and irritable bowel syndrome. I was also suffering of migraine headache which I've never had. Possible to sue? And if so what type of lawyer can do that? I know there are different lawyers for different cases?

In North America, you can sue anyone for anything.

Your chances of winning though will be based on whether you can prove your case.

Speak to your lawyer. If they won't handle it, they can refer you to somebody who can.

It is always possible to sue. Winning is the hard part. There is no way to prove that stress on the job led to your medical problems, so you will have a very difficult time winning. Plus, suing will most likely cause you more stress.

Jobs are stressful. That is why they are called WORK and no one really likes them. If we all sued our employers, there would be no businesses or places to work.

I recommend that you focus on getting better and moving on with your life.

Anyone in America can sue anyone for anything.
Depends on what type of stress your talking about. If the work was just stressful then you dont have a case. If you were working in a hostile work enviorment then its different.

In the US it is possible to sue for any reason. So go ahead. You have nothing to loose. Just tell the lawyer he gets 50% of whatever compensation is awarded to you. (Speak to 2 or 3 and see who takes the lowest %age)

this way you do not have to worry about legal fees. So search the yellow pages in your particular town and take on the biggest lawyer who will accept your case. The laywer will want to win so he will ensure you get the most competent assistant assigned to your case.

Now all you have to worry about is whether you have a solid casein the form of either documentary evidence or witnesses at the office who will testify in your favour.

Good Luck.

if you can attribute your suffering as directly work induced and related, maybe. Also you have to show that the stress you received was particularly exceptional in your case and not the normal or usual stress that everybody receives in your company.

As for the type of lawyer to look for, well I guess anyone who has experience in labor practice law. Lawyers just like doctors have specialties.

It depends on where you are. some states don't allow claims for purely emotional stress, but you have physical complaints too. Are you receiving worker's comp for your stress or did you quit. There are time considerations, also. See a lawyer if you already haven/t

You have an iron clad right to have your Child Support Order modified to your current situation. If the letter you received was from the child support enforcement agency in your state, you need to save the letter, and have that employee disciplined. As far as suing a state agency, you're probably out of gas before you leave the drive way. Most states have laws specifically designed to indemnify such agencies against claims.
