My parents are buying a house with land-but there looks like a lot more land than they are saying there is. So just wondered how to work out the acerage with the measurements of the field!

An acre is 4840 square yards (70yards X 70yards).

In metric equivilant, an acre = 0.4047 hectares (ha).

One hectare = 10,000 square meters.

Thus, one acre = 4.047 square meters.

And, as one linear yard = 0.9144 linear meters, thus an acre may be described as a square with sides = 64.008 meters. (rounded & truncated numbers.)

An acre is over 90% of an American football field, to give you a good idea of the size.

Well I will try--
For example - if your property lines on the sides are 220 feet long And the front and rear prop lines are 200 feet
220 X 200 = 44,000 sq ft
That is just a little more than an acre- 44,000 sq ft
