Usually, it's adrenalin that does this as since you're almost done with the job, a sudden burst of adrenalin ensures that the job gets done. It would sometimes be for excitement as well!

Good question, maybe it's a willing in us to simply complete or accomplish what you are trying to do, to get a sense of accomplishment, that you did "your best", so that gives you the extra burst of energy when you nearly complete it. Have a good day. God Bless
